Loneliness real, or perceived, can cause great deal of mental anguish if one does not want to be alone. Loneliness is a complex human feeling. It is not just due to lack of others near you or even lack of caring people around you. It could arise from a sense that you don’t belong or that you don’t share a common set of cultural beliefs with others around you.
The negative emotions associated with loneliness can be countered through several tools. Mindful breathing allows one to implement many of these tools. In the Learning Studio, you will see several sequences that are chosen not only to keep yourself relaxed but also to build openness and a sense of being universal and accepting. Once you have mastered these, you can use these in a playlist made in the Customization space.
You can also use any of the sequences you have learned from the Learning Studio, to do breaths of different time periods, by using the breath timing feature of the app in the Customization space. The breath timing feature not only allows you to alter the breath time and phases as you desire, it also allows you to choose images that may uplift you and affirmations that allow you to overcome negative feelings.
The affirmations will be seen as you play the Playlist you have made. As you see them, please keep your mind on the breath as well as the positive power of the affirmation. A large number of affirmations are placed in the breath timing library. You can also type in anything that you find meaningful. The affirmations may be uttered as you exhale, if you choose to do so. Affirmations useful for overcoming the negative aspects of loneliness can be of the following types:
